The Espy

Since its opening in 1878, The Espy has been the center of St Kilda and is now known for supporting emerging rock acts. It has 12 bars, three stages and two restaurants across six levels. During the day, guests can enjoy views of St. Kilda and Port Phillip Bay through the large front windows, where they can enjoy brunch. And in the evening, they can also drink spirits, cocktails and beers to watch live music. The Espy has three venues dedicated to live music performances. The first is the Public Bar for small bands and DJs. The second is in the basement bar, for emerging and local acts. The Gershwin Room is the music center at Espy, equipped with a new sound system.

The Local Taphouse

The Local Taphouse, one of the earliest beer venues in Melbourne, is still one of the best bars in Melbourne today. Influenced by European bistros in the 1930s, the bar is a gathering place for beer experts and pint tastings. Its main feature is independent of any major beer brand. It regularly changes the beer on the tap, providing on average more than 400 different beers a year. Both the novices and the experts can have new experiences here. The decoration of The Local Taphouse creates an atmosphere of an old English reading room, which makes people feel warm and comfortable. Chef Richard Smith offers menus that match specific beers.
