Cancer is one of the biggest killers in Australia taking more than 43,000 lives each year. By the time we reach the age of 85, one in two is diagnosed with cancer (Cancer Council Australia). In 2010, more than 28,000 Victorians were diagnosed with cancer, with that number expected to climb to 32,000 next year. Close to 11,000 Victorians died from the disease in 2010 (Health Victoria’s Cancer in Victoria: Statistics and Trends 2010 report).
